Radiation Monitoring Stations

The Danish state organizes a bilateral assistance program with the Baltic countries. Radiation Monitoring Stations (RMS) jointly developed by Greenwood Engineering A/S and Prolog Development Center A/S will be used to establish a network of automatic low level gamma monitoring stations.

The PMS (Permanent Measuring Stations) East project is a number of measuring stations placed in Poland, Russia and the Baltic countries. The stations monitor radiological data, including detailed radiation spectres using NaI detectors. This allows even small changes in the radioactivity to be detected.

The data from the stations is collected by a central PMS Server, which will set off an alarm if certain thresholds are reached. The data is stored in a SQL database, from where it can be analysed by various programs.

More information about the PMS project is available at www.nucinfo.com.
